Everyone is compromised, everything is fucked
This childish playground episode’s about to deconstruct
Creativity defined by how fast you can copy
Every other inbred sound from every other city

Undertow

Hey there young man, where’s your ambition gone?
The shine has left your eyes just like your friends from back home
So much you dreamt up and dealt with has died or been left behind
So take heart from this and eradicate past from conscience
We’ll drown your sorrow in the light of our hearts
Sketches on notebooks drawn in present and future tense
The pages may yellow and fold and burn
But memories stay with us anyway
You’re just like your old friends once full of hope and control
But the easy things for you were hard for them, can’t drive, no life
Are you who you are, or are you who you were?
Have we really changed that much? Aren’t we really just mimicking real life?
Sketches on notebooks drawn in present and future tense
The pages may yellow and fold and burn
But memories stay with us anyway
Frozen like life beneath the ice, some sit in hibernation
Only to wake in better times, and make for curious conversation
I’ll ride like Isaac through the sea to your ship that’s sinking, being torn apart over the reef
I’ll save every single one of you I swear and bring you safely back to feel the sand beneath your feet
I’ll light a fire on the coast big enough to keep you all warm, and watch over you while you sleep
You are my family, just please don’t leave
I’ll build a tower with my own bones, high above the storms and the cold white snow
I’ll catch your food with my own teeth, warm your soul and relieve your grief
You are my whole life, without you I can’t breathe
You are my family, just please don’t leave

Sutures
03:31
|
|||
We’re pulling hope apart, tearing at sutures and seams
Lifting out mountains, our futures and dreams
War and petrol tanks, guns and efficiencies
A melanoma of a human race, just another cancer to spit in our face
Cross border politics in the name of the cross
In the name of a corporation, incorporating companies of lust
It outweighs the good more times than I’d prefer
I think I might Bon Iver in a cabin in the forest
Somewhere news can’t find me, what shall we say when
We can’t exclaim “Oh dear God”
It has never been a part of me to think that what I’ve got
Is anything but pure chance, and maybe hard work
Those that make the biggest decisions have probably had some hard days too
But does that justify them?
What do the rings in your bark have to do with how hard you bite?
And how much longer then are you cut?
These saplings are not healthy, they do not get the sun they deserve.
Or nurturing good soil.
What resolution is there for us? Just wait for more floods?
What will it cost to save us? There isn’t a price I’m not willing to pay.
Burn the bark, let’s bite back!
Burn the bark and bite back.

In The Words Of Fear
04:20
|
|||
What the fuck does consolidation mean anyway?
You want me to become more than one man?
Consolidate myself with the facts you give me, everything I’ve ever done right is surely shadowed by those things I get wrong.
Is this a fucking test?
A game I somehow don’t know how to play, rules never taught to me on some blurry day
If there aren’t any rules, and this isn’t a test – I’ll keep myself suppressed, I’ll give it my best.
Just show me the reason for your words, one thing wrong repeated over and over.
Don’t worry, I’m always the bad guy, always stops just in time for me to be the guilty party.
In the words of fear, ‘everything will not be made right’.
What’s left to stand for, to burn for, what’s worth the fight?
Certainly not a resurrection
Within the company, who do we work for, Umbrella?
Turn me into your zombie, you bet I’ll follow you forever!
I’m not this fucking consolidation of culture, if that’s what you’ll call it.
You can’t dress your problems up in a little black dress.
The cocktails don’t hide the wolves tails.
